Nicholas Long, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for Effective Parenting. He is also a professor of pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Psychology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a licensed clinical psychologist. He has published extensively in the area of parenting and has been a frequently invited speaker on parenting at the national and international level. In addition, Dr. Long has also developed, evaluated, and disseminated various parenting programs. He continues to be actively involved in conducting parenting classes, having taught an average of 600 parents per year in parenting classes over the last several years. Dr. Long has a leadership role in several regional and national organizations concerned with parenting and children. LongNicholas@uams.edu

Mark Edwards, Ph.D. is the Program Evaluator for Effective Parenting. He is also an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in children and adolescents. He has been director of a large, multi-year Department of Education grant to develop, evaluate and disseminate a model attention deficit disorder teacher inservice program. He has experience in collaborating with education to provide training to educators across the state, region and country. He has conducted over 130 formal presentations to schools, communities and professionals. EdwardsMark@uams.edu

Pamela Harper Kahler, B.A. is the Program Coordinator for the Center for Effective Parenting and also serves as the Logistics Coordinator for the Arkansas Parent Education Network. She has previously served as project manager for a large, multi-year U.S. Department of Education grant to develop, evaluate, and disseminate a model attention deficit disorder teacher inservice program. Prior to that, she has worked in the field of marketing and public relations. Her educational background is in public information with an emphasis on marketing/advertising and journalism.

Linda Patterson, M.Ed. is the Parent Educator for the Center for Effective Parenting/AR State PIRC.   She has previous experience as a classroom teacher and has also worked with families at a residential drug treatment program.   Her educational background is in education.
