Dr. James Garbarino
"Effective Parenting from an Ecological Prospective"

This workshop will focus on the special challenges facing parents in today's socially toxic environment. It will examine the contributors to the toxicity of the social environment, such as economic polarization, desensitization to violence, large, depersonalizing schools, "the spiritual crisis," and the nastiness of popular culture, and its effects on youth at risk. The workshop will additionally explore how effective parenting can play a role in decreasing children's vulnerability to these influences.

*Registration limited and additional fee required.
